Tour Itinerary:
Day 1:
You'll be greeted by Esna Holidays' representative at the airport, who will guide you to your transportation for transfer to your first destination, Colombo City. Colombo was a small seaport that gained prominence in the 16th century with the arrival of the Portuguese, and became the capital of Sri Lanka in 1815. The city's buildings and churches from the Portuguese, Dutch, and British rule are still visible in different parts of the city.
Day 02:
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and head to Nuwara Eliya via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where more than 65 elephants are housed, and Ramboda Falls, one of Sri Lanka's tallest waterfalls. Enjoy the "Tea experience" by visiting a plantation and tea factory to learn about the process of tea-making, which has been a major contributor to Sri Lanka's economy for generations. Check-in and relax for an overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 03:
Nuwara Eliya, known as "Little England" in Sri Lanka, offers stunning scenery of mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and tea plantations. It's one of the coolest places on the island, with a British influence seen in the architecture of country cottages and Queen Ann-style mansions. Victoria Park is a beautiful place to stroll or have a picnic, and it's known for birdwatching. The park was named after Queen Victoria's 60th Jubilee Coronation in 1897, and it was initially a research field for Haggala Botanical Garden. Lake Gregory is a popular tourist attraction in the area, offering many recreation facilities. Enjoy an overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 04:
Kithulgala, located just 100km from Colombo, is a famous destination for white water rafting adventures. However, the area offers more than just rafting. The historic Beli Lena Caves, where the pre-historic Balangoda Man is believed to have lived, are just a short drive away from the main road through the Kitulgala tea estate. The area is also known for the filming of David Lean's "Bridge on the River Kwai" along the Kelani River, with the ruins of the bridge still visible. After exploring Kithulgala, proceed to Bentota for an overnight stay.
Day 05:
Hotel breakfast, then leisure time during the day, with an evening visit to Bentota city. At the Marine Turtle Conservation Kosgoda, you can learn about and observe the nesting and hatching of endangered marine turtles. Take a Madu River boat ride in the 915-hectare Madu Ganga Estuary, where you can see a diverse range of wetland vegetation and vertebrate species. Overnight stay in Bentota.
Day 06:
Have breakfast at the hotel, check out, and head to the airport. Your representative from Jetwing Travels will meet you at the hotel lobby for a scenic drive to the international airport. Safe travels back home!
